How to measure the base curve of a lens?

1. Place the ruler vertically on the outer surface of the lens.

2. Rotate the ruler and test each of the 4 curved edges (Curve 2, 4, 6, and 8), placing them one by one against the surface of the lens.

3. The edge that fits precisely and completely with the curve of the lens indicates the corresponding base curve.

4. If none of the edges fit perfectly, but two come close, the base curve will be an intermediate value between the two closest values.
